What’s New? Construction 2019 -2020

Construction began in mid August 2019 on the south side of Cloverdale and new sidewalk, trees and crossing improvements should be complete sometime next month. Check out the picture galley below for pictures of the plans. The city will complete design for improvements for the north side of Cloverdale near 5th Ave S by the end of 2019, and should begin construction in Spring next year.

If you have questions about the work being done at 5th and Cloverdale, contact David Burgesser at Seattle’s Department of Transportation.

Community-vetted preferred designs for streetscape improvements along S Cloverdale St, to the west of 5th Ave S, were completed in 2018. SDOT and SPU have pledged to fulfill the community vision by constructing the project in 2019-2020. The preferred design creates a universally accessible, safe, and pleasant walking and biking route between the residents of South Park and local businesses. The new street improvements add trees, drainage, sidewalks, and bicycle access for people to roll, walk, jog, and hike through the neighborhood. The project will encourage locals to walk or bike instead of drive and connect the community to the City and County trail network.

The first phase of this project was funded by the Neighborhood Matching Fund through the Department of Neighborhoods.
